About Serge Mouille: |
 |
Serge Mouille was a french designer and artist who began his career at a young age as a silversmith. By 1952 Serge Mouille had become the director of of the department at the School of Applied Arts in Paris.
In 1953 Jacques Adnet hired him to design lighting fixtures, an art to which he devoted the rest of his life.
In 1953 the first model was born, which became his most iconic design, the standing lamp with 3 arms all ending with the aluminum "nipple" shaped shades. Serge Mouille lamps became famous around the world. He worked to achieve a kinetic, sculptural aesthetic that evoked a sense of movement in space.
In 1964, Mouille ceased production of his designs and settled down. He worked and taught for the rest of his life, showing his lighting and jewelry at several exhibitions. In 1988 he pasted away. His family continues his legacy today with newly made edition, made with the same tools Serge Mouille once used. |
