Enzo Mari — Designer & Artist for Danese Milano
Enzo Mari (1932-2020) was one of the most important and uncompromising figures in Italian design. His Formosa perpetual wall calendar for Danese Milano (1963) and 16 Animali wooden puzzle (1957) are among the most exhibited design objects of the twentieth century — both in the permanent collection of MoMA. Mari believed that great design should be accessible to everyone. His Putrella centrepiece and other works for Danese embody this philosophy: rigorous, beautiful and never elitist.

Enzo Mari won five Compasso d'Oro awards across his career. His work for Danese Milano defined the brand's identity: design objects that belong in museums and on desks in equal measure. The Formosa calendar has been in continuous production for over sixty years.
