Fontana Arte | Sillabone Ceiling Lamp
MODEL OPTIONS:
Sillabone Ceiling Lamp by Fontana Arte. The large version of Sillaba, this is a wall and ceiling lamp with diffuser in sand-blasted white glass. Sillabone Ceiling Lamp by Fontana Arte are designed by Piero Castiglioni.
Fontana Arte was founded in Milan in 1932 by architect Gio Ponti — one of the defining voices of twentieth-century Italian design. In the early years, Gio Ponti and Pietro Chiesa pioneered sandblasted crystal and glass engraving techniques never before applied to domestic lighting, establishing FontanaArte as the most technically ambitious glass atelier in Europe. In the post-war era, Max Ingrand elevated the brand to international renown, producing mid-century pendant and wall lights now among the most collectable in design history.
Today the FontanaArte collection includes iconic designs by David Chipperfield, Vico Magistretti, Franco Raggi, Foster & Partners, and Charles Williams — alongside enduring classics like the Falena, Flute, Amax, Duplex, Sillaba, Fontana, Lampara, and 2198TA. FontanaArte lamps sit in the permanent collections of MoMA New York and the Triennale di Milano, and have been documented in Domus, Wallpaper* and Architectural Digest across nine decades of Italian design excellence.
