The Pebbles Alki Pendant Light by Graypants is the pinnacle of sustainable, eco-friendly lighting. Handcrafted from recycled cardboard, Graypants’ flagship Scraplights provide warm, intimate, and functional lighting for any occasion or space. Tough and elegant, each is precision cut with a laser and assembled by hand using non-toxic adhesive, and all Scraplights are treated with a non-toxic fire retardant.Just as our flagship line was inspired by available materials, our forms have always been inspired by the natural environment around us. The latest addition to the Scraplights collection takes forms from pebbles gathered at three beaches near Seattle, the cold and weathered home of our design studio.Each pebble shade is inscribed with the beach name and coordinates of the original stone that inspired it. The Alki Pendant Scraplights is designed by Jonathan Junker, Seth Grizzle.
Graypants was founded in Seattle in 2008 by architects Seth Grizzle and Jonathan Junker with a single, radical idea: that discarded cardboard could become the foundation for truly architectural lighting. The studio's Scrap pendant lamps — made from layered recycled corrugated cardboard — quickly gained international recognition, entering the permanent collection of MoMA New York and appearing in leading design publications including Wallpaper*, Dezeen, and Architectural Digest.
What sets Graypants apart is the quality of light. Layered cardboard diffuses illumination into a warm, amber glow that feels soft, atmospheric, and uniquely organic — something no industrial material has ever replicated.
Today the collection spans its most celebrated families — Scrap, Kerflights, Hive, Pebbles, Moon, Roost, Chrona, and Arcturus — alongside a broader range of pendant lights, table lamps, and wall lights. Each piece is designed for interiors where material honesty, atmosphere, and sculptural form matter.
