GATCPAC Floor Lamp by Santa & Cole. Josep Torres Clavé was a member of the GATCPAC movement (a regional branch of GATEPAC), which sought to promote rationalist architecture in Spain, in a similar vein to the style and principles of the German Bauhaus. The GATCPAC lamp is a paradigm of design accuracy, rigour and clarity, and embodies the aesthetic principles of that group: a manifesto for a thorough understanding of function. The lamp is a huge floodlight with an adjustable lampshade on a joint at the top of the shaft. GATCPAC Floor Lamp by Santa & Cole are designed by Josep Torres Clavé.
Santa & Cole was founded in Barcelona Spain in 1985, when Javier Nieto Santa, Gabriel Ordeig Cole, and Nina Masó founded it 23 years ago. Santa Cole has been designing industrial objects in order to seek a better user-experience for these products.
In 1992 Santa & Cole was engaged in helping design and manufacturer the urban improvements for the Olympic games. Since then Santa & Cole has grown into a full service industrial design firm which includes Urban Design and Planning, Public Lighting, Outdoor Furniture, Forestry and Book Publishing. The lighting collection of Santa & Cole includes collaboration with Miguel Mila, Arne Jacobson and Antoni Arola.
